We Walk the Talk
The SDG House network
The SDG House Network is a collaboration between various SDG Houses in the Netherlands that all individually represent a local hot-spot in a city or region for sustainability events and entrepreneurship, convening people who share the common purpose of achieving the SDGs through a diverse range of work and activities. We work and act locally and through the network, we increase impact and scale-up activities to the national level. Local is the new normal, hence SDG Houses represent important anchors for the implementation of the SDGs.
In the current decade of action, there is a shared sentiment of wanting to contribute towards achieving the goals. Still, there is often difficulty in actually doing so. Many believe the key is in connecting like-minded organisations and individuals; those that are different but would benefit from the exchange of knowledge and skills. In order to address this gap, there is a need to facilitate connections in order to foster links.
This is at the heart of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. If we want to bring about long term sustainable change, we need to look beyond our own expertise and find a way to forge meaningful partnerships. Especially now -with COVID- these can and should be built at the local level. The local SDG Houses provide the physical space to connect and interact at the local level, which via the SDG House network can be scaled up and rolled out at regional and national level.
