Creating a Better World Together

The SDG House Network

The COVID19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of united cooperation when our job security, health and supply chains are threatened. The SDG Houses will be vital facilitators of the work necessary to sustainably rebuild our communities in the coming months, leaving no one behind.

The SDG House Network is a bottom-up initiative that builds on the national and local traction the SDG agenda is generating in The Netherlands. Our Network is comprised of a diverse group of SDG Houses serving communities throughout the country. Locally-minded initiatives aim to complement the national agenda, facilitating cooperation between entrepreneurs, educators and local communities and organizations in order to extend the reach of the SDG mission.

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals: a plan for creating a better and more sustainable future for all. Built on the principle of “leaving no one behind”, these goals provide a roadmap to end poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change. Although adopted by governments, the success of the SDG agenda is the shared responsibility of all members of society and the institutions they make up. They can only be achieved through strategic collaboration between local and global actors willing and able to change the status quo. As SDG Houses, we are committed to implementing the SDG agenda on a local level by focusing our efforts on ‘Shaping the Future Together’.

What is a SDG House?

A SDG House provides a physical space to house a community of diverse yet like-minded actors, whose visions align with the promotion of the SDG agenda. The SDG House Network connects these spaces of inspiration with NGOs, businesses, knowledge partners and individuals who can mutually benefit from their diverse range of knowledge and expertise.

How we work

Our network connects, inspires and facilitates those who are committed to improving their sustainable impact, helping them to ‘walk the talk’ and accelerate efforts to achieve the SDGs by the year 2030.

How it started

Since 2017, the SDG House has expanded from its first location in Amsterdam’s Royal Tropical Institute into a diverse network spanning across the country, with locations in cities including Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Den Haag. The SDG House Network brings together member organizations working to accelerate the SDG agenda on a national and global scale through innovation, education and collaboration.
